Guy studied Drama at university, where he wrote odd, experimental plays, which he forced his friends to perform. He later co-founded a theatre company specialising in new writing and wrote, produced and performed in a number of plays, including several children’s plays. He also performed frequently on stage and television, honing his craft with such challenging roles as Jack the Ripper and “a happy cappuccino”. He has never dared perform both at once. His frequent brushes with acting and producing convinced him to stick to writing, so he gathered up his eggs and threw out every basket but one.
Now a full time author and occasional playwright and illustrator, Guy has written more than twenty books. In 2010 he won a BBC Blue Peter Book Award for Dinkin Dings and the Frightening Things and has since won a number of local awards. His series Stitch Head has been translated into more than ten languages and his most recent book, The Legend of Frog, has been described by his own mother as “a bit different”.
Guy lives in London with his wife and no dog – yet.
